Extra Extra Read all about it!

It has been an awesome week! My DH and I just went to dinner with my parents and celebrated me passing the CBEST test and my DH getting into culinary school (We went to Mu, it was delicious!) We are so blessed. The most exciting part was finding out on Monday that my DH got into culinary school. He attended a meeting where there were 163 applicants. The program was only excepting 35 students. When the director starting calling the names that would be attending my DH was called fifth. He didn't want to show the excitement to make others feel bad so he did a simple YES! and a hand punch under the table. So funny!

Stones (diamonds) are not a Girl's Best Friend!

The past week has been quit eventful and challenging. I had planned on posting last week but I came down with something. Kidney stones! Yea, thats right, those painful little suckers. I got through it ok without any help from the doctor. I am pretty sure he thought I was a hypochondriac. I went into the office with obviously large amounts of pain. He called me in and asked me, "How are you feeling?" Well did you even read my chart...HELLO you should have walked in the door with drugs and a glass of water. Sorry just ranting a little. I continued to tell him how I was feeling and what the problem was. It went like this....."Yea I think I am passing a kidney stone? How do I know that? Well when i went to the doctor for my back they took an xray and told me I had kidney stones. What was wrong with my back? I had back problems for a year and it turned out it was our bed. Also I have this pain in my side, could it be from the kidney stones. My ribs are really tender." That was the end. His response to me was, "You should be fine I wouldn't worry about it being stones." I told everyone that I had wished I was in labor because then they may have done something for me. Anyhoo I got through it and now I have a higher tolerance for pain. Bring on the babies! :)
P.S. I totally get why he thought I was a hypo because that was a lot to take in. I promise friends and family I had/have those problems. Love you all and miss you!

Gardening update!

So the DH and I have been keeping up on our gardening and I do say we are pretty proud of ourselves. I recently received a Hydrangea plant from my Mom (I love you!) and it is just starting to bloom. I am so excited and repeat that excitement everyday when I come home and see it sitting on my porch. DH's pepper plant and tomato plant are doing really well too. DH can't wait to start cooking with his new ingredients. Oh my goodness I almost forgot. I was trimming a plant the other day and found a squash plant of some sort. DH and I have a bird feeder so seeds are known to plant themselves now and then. I kept it just for kicks.

Happy Birthday Hubby!
This Blog is dedicated to you.
I loveyou!
Happy Birthday My Love
My love, I wish you a Happy Birthday
But it's me who has been blessed,
For I got to spend the year with you
In our comfy, cozy nest.
You are a rare and beautiful person;
You have delightful attributes,
Like competence and intelligence,
and what's more, lots of cutes!
You have mental strength and character
To guide you on your way;
People sense this strength in you,
And care about what you say.
So let's celebrate your birthday,
Because without it I'd never have met
My darling, wonderful husband,
The best thing that's happened to me yet!

Lions, Tigers, and Bears Oh MY!

Recently my DH and I visited The Wild Animal Park in San Diego. It was beautiful! The weather was perfect and all the animals were out, including the cheetah. Can you believe it? I never get to see the cheetah. I recommend you visit in the spring because there were so many babies. Baby cheetah, baby tiger, baby rhino, and baby giraffes. One really fun thing that happened was at the lion exhibit. We were enjoying the the sight of three young lions resting from a distance and then a man came strolling by on his bike. All three lions got up and began following him. The man said the lions like the idea of "meals on wheels". Hehe! Anyhoo....the lions came up to the windows and I was face to face with one. It was awesome! I have some fabulous pictures below but unfortunately there was a glare. Enjoy! Love you all

tasker "tail"

It has been too quiet around the house lately. My DH and I decided to let Maggie go outside and she hasn't been an inside cat ever since. It was really funny seeing this crazy kitty experience the real world. She doesn't really understand that there are living, movong things out there. She tends to jump away from the lizards that Rufus catches. Anyhoo....I miss her.
This is how Maggie tends to look nowadays, she is always pooped.

Happy 80th Birthday Papa!

On Saturday we celebrated my Papa's 80th Birthday. Can you believe it! It was partially a surprise. My Papa thought that we were celebrating birthdays like usual with immediate family but instead we planned a larger shin-dig. My Papa is very sneaky because when he walked in the front door and saw everyone waiting on the kitchen porch he went to the other porch and surprised us. I believe he saw the food, which lured him in that direction but he said otherwise. Papa I love and thank you for everything you have done and still doing for our family. You have taught me to be family oriented, sarcastic (not always good), loving, dedicated, hard working, and most of all a procrastinator, J/K kinda. We have so many awesome memories and I will have them with me always. Love you with all my heart! My Aunt traveled from out of state to surprise my Papa. He never shows his emotions but it was hard for him to dismiss it this time. My Papa said, "How can I not have emotions."
Everyone got together and thought up of eighty reasons why we love our Papa. Some are loving, and some are silly. Thank you Auntie L for putting together this beautiful frame and thank you K for putting together the video of Papa's life.

After singing our version of the Birthday Song Papa blew out his candles except for one.
